Start by understanding the gap.
The first decision is not a procedure. It is what needs to be replaced and how much support the surrounding teeth need.
One missing tooth
A dental implant and implant restoration may be an option for replacing a single missing tooth.
Several missing teeth
An implant-supported bridge may be worth discussing when more than one tooth is missing.
A denture that needs support
Implant-supported dentures can be an option for patients who need a removable tooth-replacement solution with implant support.
A full arch
Full-arch implant restorations can be discussed when all of the teeth on an upper or lower arch need to be replaced.

Plan the procedure where it happens.
St. Pete has two surgical suites for procedures that need a surgical setting. Dr. R. Andrew Powless completed hospital-based oral and maxillofacial surgery training at Jackson Memorial Hospital and Louisiana State University. Vatech CT and panoramic imaging can help the dentist evaluate the area and plan treatment when more than a routine exam is needed.
Meet Dr. PowlessThe implant is not the last step.
An implant needs a restoration, and the new tooth still needs ongoing dental care. St. Pete offers implant restorations as well as preventive, restorative, emergency, and sedation dentistry. That keeps the conversation connected after an implant decision, instead of asking you to begin again with a separate dental office for the care around it.

“Dr. Powless and the entire staff are great! From my dental cleanings with Megan or Whitney to my implants with Dr. Powless and Kim, everyone has been exceptional. The front desk staff are always welcoming which starts off each visit on the right path.”
Before you choose implant treatment.
What implant options do you offer?
St. Pete offers dental implants and implant restorations, including implant-supported dentures, implant-supported bridges, partial dentures, and full-arch implant restorations. Your dentist can explain which options may fit after evaluating your needs.
What happens before an implant recommendation?
Your first visit includes a comprehensive oral evaluation. The team will review your medical and dental health information, talk about your goals, and take digital photos and X-rays to check for decay, cracks, and other concerns. Vatech CT or panoramic imaging may be used when needed for treatment planning.
Who will handle my implant care?
Dr. Powless provides implant care at St. Pete. The practice also provides implant restorations and ongoing preventive and restorative dental care, so you can discuss the procedure, the tooth replacement, and future care within one office.
Do you offer implant-supported dentures and full-arch implants?
Yes. St. Pete offers implant-supported dentures and full-arch implant restorations. Your dentist can discuss the options and the treatment planning involved.
Do you offer sedation for implant treatment?
St. Pete offers sedation dentistry, including nitrous oxide, oral sedation, and IV sedation. The dentist will review your needs and health history to determine which option, if any, is appropriate.
How much do dental implants cost?
The cost depends on what the dentist finds and what treatment is needed. The team can help explain fees, estimate insurance reimbursement, and review payment options before treatment starts. CareCredit monthly payment plans and the Powless Plan may be available.
Will insurance cover implant treatment?
Coverage depends on your plan and the treatment needed. The team can collect your insurance information, review what they can, and help explain estimated benefits before treatment starts. They cannot guarantee reimbursement.
Start with what is missing.
You do not need to choose an implant solution before you reach out. Begin with the missing tooth, the loose or uncomfortable denture, or the larger change you are considering. The evaluation is where you can understand the path from the procedure to the care that follows.
